About Us

Lafayette Art Association, 1008 E. St Mary Blvd

The Lafayette Art Association (LAA), in the heart of Acadiana, is a non-profit organization established in 1959 by artists, photographers, and art connoisseurs to promote, support, encourage and educate in the visual arts. The member-driven organization offers a “free and open” gallery to the public and visitors are always welcome to drop by and browse the exhibits and Green Apple store.

In 2009, the Lafayette Art Association celebrated its 50th year of successful operation and is one of the oldest arts organizations in the state. LAA has been involved in the creative life of the Acadiana community for over 50 years, and puts out an impressive number of shows a year: Forty-one exhibits and a special event, Pyromania, make up the organization’s yearly calendar.

An all-volunteer staff oversees the activities at the Main Gallery location, as well as its several satellite locations. Workshops and classes on the arts are held regularly for children and adults of all ages encompassing an array of media.
